Assignment 1

Recreating an Image Style with Photoshop:



This assignment will cover the following Photoshop tools and commands...

       Layers Palette
      Layer Masks
      Layer Effects
      Opacity
      Copy and Paste
      Saving and Downloading

For this assignment we will be recreating the image displayed of the woman with the superimposed map over her skin. How we will do this? Follow the instructions below while the instructor demonstrates the exercise.


Instructions:


  1. Click on the image of the singer below under Files.
    When the full size image appears right click with the mouse and select copy image.

  2. Create a new document in Photoshop. (Control + N)

  3. Paste the image into the document. (Control + V)

  4. Repeat the steps 2 and 3 for the map image.

  5. Create a new layer from the Layers palette.

  6. On the new layer select all (Control + A) and fill with a color from the color palette.
    *Important: you must have the layer selected that you want to edit.

  7. Rename your layers by clicking on the layer palette name.
    Rename the layers to Singer, Map, Color.

  8. Move the Color layer below the Map layer by dragging the layer name in the Layers palette.

  9. Use the Blending modes to change the appearance of the map.
    Try different effects like Darken, Multiply, Overlay, etc.

  10. Save the results as a .jpg with your name to the desktop of your computer.
    (i.e., "YourName.jpg")
